Erie Insurance CRIPPLED by Massive Outage: Systems DOWN, Customers Left Stranded!

A network outage is currently disrupting Erie Insurance’s operations and impacting customers in 12 states and Washington, D.C. The systems have been down since June 8, preventing customers from filing claims, accessing accounts online, or engaging with customer service through digital channels.

In one of their statements, the company said, “All available resources are working to assess the impact and resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

Despite the outage, the company has taken some measures to help customers. As mentioned in the Erie Time-News, customers can now call any of Erie Insurance’s 13,000 agents. Moreover, some members of the First Notice of Loss team can answer urgent claim calls, such as a tree falling on a roof, at 800-367-3743.

The outage coincides with a period of rapid digital advancement within the industry. As Tim NeCastro, president and chief executive officer of Erie Insurance remarked in November 2023, customers are now accustomed to more electronic transactions.

“Businesses have definitely made significant advancements in the area of providing more digital capabilities and self-service options to their customers.”
